OHARANO
>>>
Oharano is a quiet and expansive agricultural area southwest of Kyoto City. It was the hunting grounds of the imperial family during the Heian period over 1,200 years ago. The slow farming life visible here creates a peaceful atmosphere that is immediately felt upon arrival.
Oharano is one of the lesser known parts of this region and is typically overlooked by visitors to Kyoto as without guidance it can be tricky to navigate. Surrounded by the Western Mountains and boasting sprawling farmlands, bamboo groves and several outstanding temples and shrines, this is perfect place to spend tranquil moments immersed in nature. >>>
OYAMAZAKI
<<<
Oyamazaki has been a focal point for transportation since ancient times because it is located at the confluence of the Katsura River, Uji River and Kizu River. These rivers are located at the foot of the hillside and stretch deep into the plains.
Although Oyamazaki is the smallest town in area in Kyoto Prefecture, throughout history it was a place of great strategic importance due to its location. Many wars were fought here including a battle between two of the most powerful samurai warlords in Japanese history. >>>
MUKO CITY
>>>
Muko City served as the capital city of Japan (Nagaoka-kyo) for a decade from 784 to 794. Modern research has revealed a large portion of the palace to have been located here.

NAGAOKAKYO CITY
<<<
Nagaokakyo City is a dense suburban area that is conveniently located between the cities of Kyoto and Osaka. The name of the city is derived from Nagaoka-kyo, the ancient Japanese capital that was established here from 784 until 794.
A large part of Nagaokakyo City consists of flat residential land, while the remainder is comprised of the West Mountains which are known for bamboo shoots cultivation. Scattered among this area are numerous shrines and temples which have a soft local feel while quaint restaurants and cafes serve local dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. >>>
