Take No Michi 竹の径

This area is well known as one of the top producers of high-quality bamboo shoots and the Take no michi (Path of Bamboo) was created through a number of different development phases in order to preserve a portion of the local bamboo groves. Strolling through this tranquil environment will certainly leave you enchanted by the natural beauty.

The series of pathways has a total length of about 1.8 km and has been developed since 2000 to preserve the scenery and promote tourism. Both sides of the road are lined by eight different kinds of bamboo fences.

The path has been certified by the Japan Walking Association as one of the "500 Most Beautiful Japanese Walking Paths" and "Best 100 National Walking Paths."

Designated as a natural monument, Yōryū no Matsu (The Pine of the Playful, Reclining Dragon) is a Japanese white pine trained to grow horizontally. It is said to be over six hundred years old.

It has also been designated as a "Kyoto Scenic Asset” and a “Kyoto Cultural Landscape." Although it has been recognized domestically, it is still a hardly visited by international travelers, which makes it a perfect Kyoto oasis.
